I have a good job as a dispatcher for a private ambulance agency here in Colorado. One of the best agencies in my opinion. I love my job, love my coworkers, and my employers treat me well. Due to call volume being unpredictable at times, I always show up early. In EMS, it’s common practice to show up early. We all practice the “if you’re not early, you’re late” ethic. Mostly out of courtesy for our coworkers so they can leave on time. Unfortunately this evening I discovered they’ve been editing my clock in times to exactly 10 minutes before my scheduled time. While I understand why they would do this, I feel like it’s extremely shitty to edit my times without telling me to either stop or informing me that they won’t pay me for greater than 10 minutes. After scrolling through emails from 3 years ago I did find one that says not to clock in more than 15 minutes early, but that wouldn’t really explain these adjustments. I tracked it back and it looks like it’s been going on for about 6 months. Should I contact an attorney? Should I brush it off? Should I let them know it’s a shitty thing to do but then let it go? I don’t want to burn a bridge while I’m standing on it. Thanks in advance for the advice.
