So I started a new job a few weeks ago. My parents wanted to take me on a two week trip the end of June. We were waiting for me to get approval from my work and then it was taking a while to know what was up, then I got approval but my parents had to book different dates for the trip so I was coming back four days later than I told my work. The person in charge seemed really stressed about it that the dates were different than the approved dates. I apologized and explained my parents had to make last minute changes. I feel awful but it’s also hard to figure this stuff out because there’s such little flexibility and it’s hard to know what flights you are getting before you actually book them, plus it was all going through my parents.
I’m stressed I’m going to get fired. Did I really mess up here? Is it ok to need flexibility with dates ? I told them two or three weeks ago now about the trip.
My parents are getting older and I want to make sure I can have these experiences with them. I just feel bad I wasn’t organized and couldn’t give my work clear dates.
If anyone can talk me out of this doom spiral I’d appreciate it but no pressure. Thanks !
