Any advice on leaving the service industry? I feel trapped.

first post here but read stuff here nearly daily. i’ve been wanting to work in a different industry, not because I don’t love what I do specifically but because the people I work for & the customers have drained me physically & mentally. it sucks when you’re passionate about something (in my case, i’m the head barista at a third wave coffee spot, formerly ran kitchens) but don’t really feel it anymore after getting so burnt out. the hard part is it’s ALL i’ve ever done. since high school & my early 20s I was cooking, & then moved onto coffee nearly a decade ago. i’m turning 30 but whenever I look at other types of jobs or talk to customers about what they do (live in SF so it’s a lot of work from home tech stuff that sounds made up) I feel like a clueless child. has anyone…

has anyone here been in a similar situation? how do I get out of this rut while still being able to pay bills? in a better world (aka without capitalism) i’d still make coffee & cook food without worrying about making ends meet, but damn having to do that & put up with the stuff I do or starve sucks.
