I know at least 2 of my coworkers who are at the same level, make 12% more than me. What’s especially upsetting is that I started 3 years prior to them. I would like to be bumped up to at least that, if not even more, as I have been here much longer.
How should I discuss this with my boss? There are two complicating factors:
1. I am very well paid for my industry, so even though I am underpaid at my firm, I have little leverage to go find a competing offer
2. I’m fairly certain my boss is unaware of my salary, as it’s his boss who does my yearly reviews. I can’t feel I should skip the chain of command, but also don’t feel comfortable having him ask/fight for the higher salary
