This is about my perspective and not a judgment on anyone. I'm tired of picking the lesser evil. I spent most of my career in local government. It was frustrating but it did good to the community. After I vested in the pension, I decided I put in my time and it is time to get paid well. So I got a job at a certain world's largest employer. I was really excited, I get to continue to work with local government but make really good money. I figured it is a net good or at least a wash. It was great working with smart passionate people who care about helping government customers. I drank the kool-aid.
But the longer I worked there the more I got see how hypocritical the company. Started to see that a lot of the policies aren't really any caring about people but to make liberal middle and upper class feel better about their actions.
Recently I got a huge raise. At the same time that they are slashing jobs and cutting benefits. Also we had a very strong quarter so it is even more transparent. All of this is about 1) management thought growth will go forever and made huge mistakes and stupid hires and 2) they are willing to fire thousands of people to get the stock price up 2 bucks. Especially sick after they proclaimed they have the goal of making themselves as the world's best employer.
I'm done. I'm done acting like inaction is neutral. It isn't. It is immoral. I know not everyone has the means to quit their job so no judgment if you have to stay at your evil job… but i personally cannot. I'm making a plan to leave and to dramatically change how I view my decisions. If we all made a list of our values and looked at our life… we would really reconsider the things we just have come to accept as a fact of life. Thank you for letting me have a place to express myself.
