A co worker of mine approached our direct management about discrimination by being one of two minorities on our shift and always getting the shit work essentially, manager told him to basically fuck off and take it to HR, except our HR dept is in shambles right now and transitioning new people. I used to work with our GM and sent him an email on behalf of my co worker expressing his and my concerns regarding work place discrimination. I may have used the words “subconsciously sabotaging my teammates career”.
I feel like I did the “right thing” but I also have a family to provide for and am now getting anxiety about causing waves and not being able to retain my job if I get retaliated against. It’s not my place to take care of someone other than my family, but I just felt in the moment that something needed to be done and the only power I have is my voice.
