I had the weirdest experience and I've realized it's a potential opportunity to gain an ally for the overall movement.
I had to go to the bank and was directed to someone in a little cubicle. While handling things I made a comment that they asked me to expand upon; they dropped a very subtle comment back about not exactly enjoying working for the bank. Within the context of some technical and career questions, I slipped in comments of my background working with (basically) financial data and used that to expand on: the productivity-wage gap; how we were supposed to be a society that worked only three or four days a week; how several surprising figures were actually pro Union but had that history forgotten (a bank worker was listening to me talk about UNIONS!!); how business was different before the 1970s and how it radically changed; etc.
I have to go back to the bank regularly for a few months which means I'll have the chance to speak with them again. I'm considering using our “technical” interests as a cover and slipping in more information and resources (this person was hanging onto every one of my hushed tones about business and workers, lol). What would you try to tell them? What resources would you try to share? How would you gauge their openness to r/antiwork or get it on their radar? How would you foster an alliance with this person?
Feedback to this would be super appreciated and helpful!
