So I went into work today sick as a dog, and got sent home by two different managers that were on shift. A coworker who was already on shift stepped in to fill my position which i consider being covered, right? as my sickness has worsened, I asked for coverage on the shift group chat and accommodations are being made by my fellow teammates moving around to fill the empty position. I also consider that reasonable coverage. fast forward to me sending a message to my GM stating the condition of my sickness and how i’m most likely contagious and that I shouldn’t show up to work tomorrow. The GM proceeds to tell me i’m being written up twice for leaving today without coverage and for abusing the call out policy. Mind you.. my shift was to start at 7am tomorrow, and I did physically call the GM after I was made aware of the policy. I was also told a doctors note isn’t required but that any punishment I receive for being sick may be reconsidered if i provide one. any advice ? am i unreasonably upset about being punished for being ill?
