Edit: I live in an extremely rural area. Like extremely.
Sorry it's so long. Major life decision. So the company I'm working for I quit working for then came back. I have done everything they asked of me to move up. Only get great reviews. Got my degree and my masters for them. Now they are promoting people with no degrees and very little experience over me. Obviously toxic culture.
Too combat this, I positioned myself into a job where no one else can get experience for my promotion. I'm literally the only one below it and the only one left. Everyone else with experience found another job or just walked out. So they are posting the promotion here shortly and I messaged the hiring manager to verify. They literally replied to me that “Hopefully, I have been working hard to earn it and be the best candidate. They have a few concerns…”
Then proceeded to bring up the one “error” that was brought up in the last 3 months. Mind you it wasn't brought up to me… Because it was a lie. It was brought up by the former manager and they took it as gold and he doesn't even work here anymore. The error was me choosing not to have anyone enter a construction site because we were not updated with the safety protocols. We didn't even need what was in the room.
Now, I'm in talks with a bank about a better long term growth position but will be significantly lower pay for awhile. I can probably handle the lower pay.
I'm debating taking the bank job no matter what just to screw the company I work for for treating me the way they have. I'm the only with any knowledge or experience in the whole department. They won't be absolutely screwed but it will definitely hurt.
