I do enjoy the tasks of my job…but the pay is my issue

Gonna try to make this vague as possible as to avoid being linked back to me somehow, but include the important information you need to know. I’m 20 and have been in job for less than a year but more than 6 months. It’s that sort of position which actually make me happy to go to work most days, as it’s in the human services field and I get to work with a population I love working with. I feel so conflicted sometimes because I love what I do, but human services in general is notoriously bad with pay, and I want to be able to move out of my parents house.

I know there’s gotta be something out there similar, but it’s hard having such an emotional investment in a position that will never work out longterm.

I’m really asking here if I should continue to look into switching jobs (been looking into 17/18+ an hour positions) or if it’s good to stick out the year before heading out? Anyone been in similar spot?
