I’m out of town tomorrow afternoon, since I have a family commitment. I have a shift scheduled tomorrow morning 6-12. My manager just now extended my shift to 3 pm, since someone else cancelled on her last minute. She is arguing that since she let me know 25 hours in advance I need to come in.
Their policy technically states any shift 24 hours or less that is scheduled you have a right to cancel. However, since she booked me 25 hours in advance, she just barely snuck around the policy and legally is in the right.
I know per policy they’re technically in bounds, but what are your thoughts on this? What would you do?
For context, this is a minimum wage job I’m working just for extra change temporarily after being laid off. I have a good amount of savings and low rent, and a second role as a freelancer making $40 an hour.
More context: I’ve legit been working every single day (M-Sun) since 4/24, with the exception of one Sunday.
