Okay so basically we work in the healthcare industry. I’m like a level below him in terms of career title. I also have social anxiety but I try my best to hide it as I need to see patients as well – which I think it’s getting better.
Today he came to talk to me, saying that sometimes when he’s instructing me , I do not look him in the eye. He says that he feels like I’m not interested in what he is talking, or I seem rude. He also said that he’s pretty old school and prefer eye to eye contact when talking.
I get his point, but sometimes I am trying to make my time effective by doing other tasks but keeping my ears open. So I’m actively listening. Plus, this is a new job I’m working, have only been here a few months.
Do you guys have any tips on how to deal with this as an introvert? I do admit that it makes me feel stressed and nervous to be keeping eye to eye contact if that makes sense at all??
