Is work life in USA office as bad as in the service sector?

Did not mean to offend anyone with this, just genuinely curious. I could not help to notice that majority of the post are from the USA and most of the people telling their stories work ins service sector (stores, bars etc) Im absolutely appalled by the treatment of workers in the states and genuinely sad, however I work in the office environment in the UK and wondering is life in USA office as bad as everywhere else. Im a senior developer in UK for over 16 years. Currently im getting paid 85k per year, this roughly comes out as £4700 in hand per month (6000 USD) for this i work 35 hours per week, emplyeer is not allowed to contact me outside my working hours. 26 days paid holiday + 5-6 national holidays depending on the year. On top i get 15% bonus, 8x salary life insurance, income protection insurance…

How would that compare with life of tech office worker in the states?
