This is a rant post. In another sub, a parent who is planning two 5 day long vacations asks the Reddit community how much to pay their babysitter while they are away. Parent states the past agreed upon price ($20) and then asks how much we (the reader) would “offer”.
This is the HUMAN BEING you are placing the care of YOUR CHILD in. Not an eBay bid.
I can’t understand why this parent would want someone who has such an important job to accept anything less than they already agreed to.
Also- to boot- the majority of the comments are telling the parent to pay less than the past agreed on price! $100 a day! That’s less than 5 dollars an hour! The more generous comments say $1000 for 5 days, that’s 8 dollars an hour!!!!
I am missing something?
Taking care of children is SO undervalued in this country.
