Started a new job today, and my manager made it very clear that they want us to come into the lunch/break room first thing, find out where in the factory they want us to work that day, THEN go clock in (and no more than 2 minutes early).
I know it's just a few minutes, but it doesn't seem right to have a conversation about work before clocking in, and frankly, I'm tired of employers getting away with shit, even small things.
So would this be illegal? I live in the US, Ohio, so I called OSHA to ask, but they told me to call my state's Dept. of Labor Wage & Hour division. Dept. of Labor didn't answer, so I thought I'd ask here so I can be a little prepared tomorrow morning. I'm fully ready to dig my heels in if the law is on my side.
