I work in a large corporation that is well known and am often told how lucky I am to work there. That often comes with the idea that I have to be perfect at my job and can’t make any mistakes for the fear of being seen as stupid or incapable. Recently I’m trying to move away from that mindset since I recognize how unhealthy it is. Ultimately, work is just work to me. I don’t feel the need to rise through the ranks like my coworkers do, or show how excited I am about my job because I’m not excited about working. A job is just a way to make money for me. But I cannot let go of the anxiety and stress. Whenever I have a meeting with my director or with external clients/stakeholders I get incredibly stressed and it ruins my day. I don’t know how I can let go of it. I’ve been told I am doing a great job as a new employee and that the quality of my work is excellent. However, I just still hold on to the stress. I want to be able to just remove emotions from work, do my work, and go home without feeling anxious the entire day. How do I overcome this?
