Rant incoming, and sorry for formatting, on mobile.
I work as a warehouse manager for an electronics manufacturer. Most days my job isn't too terrible (compared to a lot of posts I see), but for the past few months I have been having a problem with a member of our sales and marketing team. She keeps making promises (delivery date for orders) without checking with any other department (namely the production and warehouse, ie, me). And then when production fails to deliver on time, she tells management it is my fault, and they routinely take her side. We use a lot of custom components for our products that are made to order, some with incredibly long (6-18 month) lead times, and she regularly does not check with us to see if we have them in stock before approving delivery dates. My inventory levels are set by corporate policy, so I don't have much say in how much we stock for a lot of components, only in when we order more of them. I just got out of a meeting with our production manager where he basically spent an hour screaming at me because we can't deliver an order to a customer tomorrow because of not having parts (that I ordered two months ago) that the sales team approved on Monday (3 days ago). This is the 3rd time in the last 2 months they have done this, with me taking the blame every time.
