I work for two hotels in California. The one pays $21 flat rate which is not that good. I still have to do physical labor work like carrying the heavy trays with many plates and forks and cleaning and doing chairs/tables at the end. The female employees who have been in there forever don't do it saying they are old to.
The second banquet job I feel like I am a last minute flex employee. I got hired with some experience but then I was thrown to micromanaged by 7-8 more employees who have been there for years. Me and 4 more people are always being assigned to bus, nothing else. Only the people who have been there for awhile or are relatives of another employee there tend to do bartending or buffet attendant. I am aware Bussing is part of the duties but those people little bus and get the better duties.
I don't have any saying at that hotel, like other employees are asking me to do x thing or do it that way and then captain sees and acts as if not to do. Even if I try to start something myself like go polish plates or place butter, Captain and others will shout at me go being the Queen Mary. Or the hot box. And it's quite the distance to carry that.
We have a new manager and it seems other employees told him I am not good so he walks around with sarcasm. Saying things like, “What? You are still here damaging my payroll? Oh you're here doing rollups? Better have 500 by now.”
I thought he was joking. But I guess not. Today he screamed at me to go and clean the tables while I was helping running the buffet. So yeah I am feeling so disrespected and worthless.
