I’m breaking all of the retail rules from now on

I’m a college student so I work maximum 3 shifts a week. The people I started with 5 years ago are now managers etc and power trip so hard it’s actually comical. I no longer play their game when they bark orders at me and treat me like shit because i’m a casual employee. They need me more than I need them. As for the customers, I backchat them, I refuse service to customers who are being rude and I also give away free stuff to customers who are nice. I had an asshole customer try bargain me on a $300 laminated bench top that had been marked down to $200 due to a slight dent in it. He was asking me to sell it to him for $50 cash and got so upset when I refused that he slammed his trolley into the shelf and went and reported me.…

As for the customers, I backchat them, I refuse service to customers who are being rude and I also give away free stuff to customers who are nice. I had an asshole customer try bargain me on a $300 laminated bench top that had been marked down to $200 due to a slight dent in it. He was asking me to sell it to him for $50 cash and got so upset when I refused that he slammed his trolley into the shelf and went and reported me.

I had an old man come up to me like an hour later and kindly asked if I could grab some heavy timbers off the top shelf for him. He thanked me politely and asked if I was having a nice day despite working on a Saturday. I had a quick but pleasant convo and he mentioned he was meant to be building a computer desk for his grandson, I assume the old man was a retired carpenter by the way he was talking and was one of the most polite customers I’ve dealt with in months.

I hope he enjoys his free benchtop 🙂
