This is about a job I left 5/6 years ago.
Info: I have a genetic kidney disease that has caused me constant chronic pain for the last 8 years (its incurable and sadly so is the pain) when I applied for this phone shop job(somewhere I always wanted to work at….regret) I informed them about my health and the pain I deal with but I never missed a day even though somedays I could hadly stand and was sent home but wanted to prove I could still work.
I can not drive due to all this so I would get bus' to work and when they made me go home a member of staff would take me despite me not wanting to go, needed the money
Fast forward a year the manger, who was a complete asshole, was clearly trying to get rid of me (greanted not the best sales woman but I never missed targets just wouldn't con people into buying what they didn't need) and he tried using my health as the way to do it, he would do a lot of snidy stuff to make me quit but I wouldn't.
M: You health doesn't seem to be getting better and I want Occupational health to have a look at your records to see if anything can be done/ what he meant was “I don't believe you and think you're faking so OH will say so and I can sack you”
Me: Sure they can all at all my medical files I have nothing to hide, signs papers to say they can look
Not even a week later I had a cushy chair, was only aloud to do light work (data transfers, demos, sales)not aloud to do shift on my own (the manger would put me on constent closes 9pmclose which is done alone from 7pm) I didn't have to walk around the store (two story huge department store) and given an extra paid 10 minute brake on top of my lunch and other 10 minutes to take my medication along with not being penalised for time off related to my kidneys.
Needless to say the manager was pissed🤣, I lift that job a year later for a cushy office job who also knew about my health and couldn't do enough for me to be comfy their….miss that job stupid covid made us all redundant.
Edit: I live in the UK.
