I have been unemployed for 2.5 months. Had to move cities and applied for a transfer. Transfer approved until I moved and now they say “when a position becomes available”
So fuck 'em I'll get a new job. It was a minimum wage job to get me through university anyway. Applied to 200+ jobs (in my field, minimum wage jobs and everything in between). 4 interviews. No luck.
However, I applied to manage a gas station. I have recent gas station experience and a management degree so I felt that it would be a good shot. District Manager contacts me to hold a screening phone interview. They seem common here now, they call and chat before asking you to come in for an interview. I told her Thursday after 2pm or all day Friday.
She replies with “I will call you on Thursday at 2:15”
Spent all Thursday afternoon and Friday clinging to my phone. Put things off, moved plans. No call
Wednesday the next week she emails me again asking for a preliminary phone interview. I tell her Thursday and Friday all day. She responds with “Thursday 1pm”
Again, Thursday and Friday I cling to my phone to get no call.
She emails again on the next Wednesday, asking for a preliminary phone interview. I replied as professionally as possible. I explained that due to my time being wasted I didn't feel it would be a good fit for me. I explained that communication is very important to me as a manager (it's 80% of any management job) so I would be turning down the invitation.
She replies with “Friday 2pm”
I didn't cling to my phone but I did leave the ringer on. I wanted to tell her over the phone, if she called, why I wouldn't accept the job. She didn't call.
She again emailed me the next Wednesday asking for a preliminary phone interview.
Why do they continue to bother me? Can't be told no?
