I guess this is sort of a rant, but I have been applying for new roles ever since my last company was purchased by a larger company.
I do mostly HRIS maintenance and policy/procedure consultation and applied to a company to run their HCM software and oversee future mergers, etc etc.
I went through five (yes, five) interviews. Each time I talked to the recruiter after and each time we spoke about salary and PTO, etc. Each time she told me a salary range and a PTO number. Both numbers I was fine with.
I got offered the job yesterday and was so excited and she told me she’d be sending the offer letter via e-mail and I’d “be delighted” with the numbers.
I open the offer and It’s 10 grand less than the minimum number we had been speaking of and 2 weeks less PTO. Like why even mention the higher numbers if you had no intention of giving them to me?
Part of me wants to be happy to be offered a job less than a month since losing my other job, but part of me is really angry.
I’d still be making about 20k more than I was, but I’d be losing almost 3 weeks PTO. Why do jobs lie to us? Just tell us up front what you’re offering!
