How much does (percentage wise) a raise actually feel like a raise?
I live in South East Asia, the current minimum wage (according to the law anyway) is equivalent to 330 USD/300 EUR per month. I get paid (after taxes, etc) 515 USD/467 EUR per month. Say I get a 5% raise, I now get 539 USD/490 EUR. While I got 24 USD/23 EUR more, it still feels like it's not a raise with all prices rising.
My wage is at a lower tier (I am salaried). I discussed about the upcoming annual raise with a co-worker who makes more (but not by a lot), he also said that if he only gets 2% or 5% raise, the company shouldn't bother since the raise feels like he didn't get a raise.
