Whenever I read that someone is very apathetic, the immediate response suggests seeing a professional for depression.
However, is it possible that apathy is a symptom of something else?
For example, when I was in my late twenties, I just abruptly stopped liking things I used to like from food, drinks, activities, etc. I just changed and no longer liked the things I did previously, and I really don’t know why. It scared me so much.
However, slowly, I started finding new things I liked, and although I haven’t been able to return to my previous baseline, I’ve come a LONG way from when I was at my lowest.
