I am a salaried employee at an organization that isn’t completely evil. I’ve been there over a decade. Recently, we started using a new payroll company. I had to download an app to clock in and out from. I haven’t clocked in and out for 10 years. None of the salaried/mgmt employees did. We would log our hours either daily or at the end of the pay period in adp. Easy peasy. Fast forward, now we’re punching the clock in real time. Ok- fine. But this morning, I noticed a message on my time management screen that geolocations have been enabled. They were previously disabled, as the nature of my work doesn’t always allow for me to start at specific locations. They had been disabled for all management people. I just felt so god damn pissed that now I’m basically being tracked by my employer on my personal device. It’s such a slap in the face that once we were trusted to do our job with much autonomy and now we’re being monitored. I feel like it’s bad for moral.
