I took a new job about 7 months ago and have kinda been using it as a learning opportunity since I’m newer to the field. I don’t love it but do need to start somewhere to get some experience under my belt in order to move up elsewhere in the field. My boss offered me a new position last week and pretty much said that I have to stay with them for two years if I take it, aka sign a non compete. She then said “well you already know that though” as if I already signed one..which I do not recall. Im really confused bc im not getting paid shit and she got mad when I questioned what sorts of pay incentives come with a two year contract and she was speechless that I’d ask that as if I should be grateful I have the job. Why would I want to be stuck somewhere for two years at a low pay rate? Literally what. For those of you who have had to sign one, did you get at least a good pay rate or raise? I’ve read that it usually comes with a good reason to stay but damn why would I commit myself to that if not when our competitor would pay me double once I have the experience
