Missing almost an entire day of vacation time even though the vacation policy clearly outlines (imo) what time is supposed to be allotted.

TLDR: my employer said I got 5 days of vacation, when I took them they paid me for 33.5 hours even though I’m a full time employee. Per my employee handbook which I had to fill out when hired, here is the vacation policy: “Paid vacation time is provided to regular full-time employees to allow a reasonable period of time to be free of job responsibilities and to enjoy rest and relaxation. TLDR: my employer said I got 5 days of vacation, when I took them they paid me for 33.5 hours even though I’m a full time employee.

Per my employee handbook which I had to fill out when hired, here is the vacation policy:

“Paid vacation time is provided to regular full-time employees to allow a reasonable period of time to be free of job responsibilities and to enjoy rest and relaxation. Each employee will receive the following vacation based on continuous years of service:

0-1 year None
1-2 year 1 week per year (5 days)
2+ years 1 week each 6 months (max 2 weeks per year)

Employees with one year of service will be granted one week of vacation as of the anniversary of their hire date each year. Employees with two or more years of service will be granted one week of vacation for each six months of continued service based on the anniversary of their hire date. One week of vacation is five (5) full time business days under this policy.”

The rest of the paragraph on vacation goes on about how it doesn’t transfer and isn’t gaurenteed based on company needs.

I was told they took an “average” of my hours during the last quarter and paid me out for 5 days based on that, but there isn’t a single thing in the handbook about averaging hours or anything like that.
