Perspective: I am being laid off and these are my last two weeks.
For years my company has been in the bad habit of calling me for “emergencies” every time that I am off. It literally never fails. I’ve had to work nearly every vacation and I’ve not gone away in 7 years.
I had told them they need to respect my time when I am off and I’ve started to completely log out of teams when I am off.
Yesterday a senior manager says “Call me right away.” I wasn’t logged on and didn’t see it till hours later, and was busy. I didn’t respond until today when I was back at work.
Part of the reason they claim I’m being outsourced is because I need time off and I’m just one person. So, I am enforcing my boundaries and not responding to anyone when I’m off? They already outsourced me, so why go above and beyond and sacrifice myself for people who fired me?
AITA for ignoring their calls during my time off?
