When I was interviewing, in both stages, phone and in person, I was transparent in that I needed time off at the end of this month. I was told every time it would be no problem.
When I got the call for the job offer, I again asked about this time off before accepting, and was told I would be able to take it, just might have to be partially unpaid as I wouldn’t have the PTO banked to cover the whole thing. I was okay with this, and took the job.
Fast forward to 4 months later, today, I was told by my boss that HR told her they never approved such a thing. I wouldn’t have taken this job if I knew that were the case. I flat out told her “well when I get back, if I have a job or not is up to y’all”
I later asked her what she thought about it, she isn’t happy but is certain they wouldn’t let me come back.
So I guess it’s time to start job hunting, since I’ve never really been happy here anyway.
