I'm in California, and started working at a semi upscale steakhouse in the bar as a Bartender. The owner asks us to supply the money to be used to make change in our registers. We are to bring about 100$ worth of various small bills and change to use, and then take home 100 at the end of the shift, leaving the leftover money as revenue. This is incredibly weird, and reeks of something shady. I kept looking online for answers, but im having trouble wording my searches in a way that brings results. But this can't be legal, right? It doesn't add up to me.
