So today I was getting ready for lunch. Tbh it’s just me and another guy there 100% (besides the admin staff) and this small company. For the last year we’ve been taking our 45 minute unpaid lunch when we felt. Usually starting sometime before noon and ending by 2. I’ve taken mine at 1 for a few months. It’s been a floating time since I started. Today when our manager/the owners son, came in at 1 pm ( we both get here at 7 am) and bitched about the fact I was taking my lunch and wanted to put a strict lunch time in place. Our system has worked perfectly the past year. Every day (besides today bc we are gossiping at a local place), we make sure at least 1 of us is at our desk in case of emergency. Mr. Manager shows up when he feels like it (usually around 11-2) and then will take an hour and a half lunch (or longer) with his dad. I can’t even count the amount of times that he came in for less than 30 minutes before going to a hour+ lunch. Crazy to me that we need to lock ourselves into a strict routine schedule which doesn’t suit both my coworker’s style and my style
To any business owners reading this hoping that they don’t end up posted here, all I gotta say is
You’re not God. You want your employees to do something, do it yourself too, follow your rules that you have for them. Otherwise, they will hate you, and won’t stay long.
I had my first interview in a year the other day and it went smooth as butter, as soon as I’m out of this company, they are getting the worst possible reviews on every possible sites (If you know any good employer review sites lemme know. I want them all)
