Antiwork

I walked out of my toxic job today. It was the most liberating and empowering experience of my life.

So I had planned on leaving my warehouse for months now, but wanted to wait to find just the right time to do so. There were A LOT of problems already with the company and management that trickled down into smaller issues throughout the entire warehouse (ex. lack of training, overly lax policies, poor communication, deceptive, the list goes on). I waited it out for a year as to not hurt my resume, and to also see if things would get better over time. Sadly it never did. I've applied for a few jobs over the past several months, but had an interview this last weekend with the old company I worked for in retail (different store). I worked there for years and really enjoyed it, but left due to a specific manager. But being that I had previous work history and a good relationship with the manager (different one)…

I've applied for a few jobs over the past several months, but had an interview this last weekend with the old company I worked for in retail (different store). I worked there for years and really enjoyed it, but left due to a specific manager. But being that I had previous work history and a good relationship with the manager (different one) who interviewed me, I was almost instantly accepted for the position I applied very quickly at a good wage and great hours.

With all of that in mind, all of this lead up to me walking out of my job during my shift. I finished all of my work before lunch, made sure everything was cleaned up, then clocked out and left. I've never done anything so bold in my life so it felt really good taking back some control from a place that caused a lot of suffering. The place just sucked, I had something else already lined up, and I never planned on working there again so I really didn't care about burning bridges. I'm just so relieved to be out of a toxic work environment, and will be starting employment with the new company at the end of the month!
