For starts I would to like to add I have sense landed a great job at a local bakery,

I am 22M in college, I got a job teaching a group of youth the ins and outs of the industry which dealt with forestry, trail building, fence building and a host of other jobs. While the pay was low at $16 for the amount of work I was doing, I was fine with it due to the months long training with my Co-workers and some previous experience.

After the month and a half of training I got my crew, I also got to meet my project partners for the remaining 2 months of work, the project partner is essentially supposed to be my mentor

Upon our first week working together he threw us to his intern who was someone who has only ever work one summer in his life and that I also have much more experience, as well out rank at this job, right off the bat this guy has no communication skills and already talking to my crew of minors inappropriately, being we were stuck in the middle of no where for the week I had to bite my tough till my off time to talk to my boss about this, my goal being that this guy needs massive improvement and we are supposed to be doing meaningful work that teaches my crew

Upon the second week, we then working with a different hire up who had some experience but nothing of value of the kids, they again have us to the busy work and nothing that actually shows what’s it’s like to work these jobs, again this person has poor communication, would rather risk them getting physically injured for a “lesson”. As the week goes on they move us to a different location where they had 3 tools and there was around 9 people, again nothing of value, on this day I took time to write my daily reports so they get the change to do the work.

The 3rd week goes very well surprisingly, great communication as well expectation and lots of learning opportunities that don’t mean death if they fail.

Week 4 goes right back to the nothing work, again not doing anything of value and just busy work because they forgot us

Week 5 we only worked 1 day due to some holidays and me getting a cold, but upon this day I was with the guy from week 1, even worse communication, taking 0 precaution for safety, and he then blows up on me, telling me I am lazy and overall starts throwing a tantrum, mind you it’s about time to head back to the office due to high temperatures, I take him aside to let him know how inappropriate that was (at this point I was fed up with this guy and his actions that i decided that’s it I was no longer going to let this slide and was going back to the office no matter what, by the time we get back to the office, by the time we got back to the truck I had a kid get heat exhaustion and I enter my wilderness first aid mode and get them out of there.

I talked to my boss who pissed that they have been pulling these games for over a month, let’s me know to talk to the project partners, upon this conversation he immediately takes the guys side and that I my job is only to do work nothing else, I let my boss know if he doesn’t change that I will be leaving the company, he completely understands talked to the project partner and gets the same story, he tells me he appreciates me and to use him as a reference

Did I do the right thing or should I have stayed and toughed it out
