Doing manager’s job

Maybe I am being a whiner, but this seems weird to me. We have a shared email box that is supposed to be checked by a group of about 5 people on our team. I am in a shifted schedule, so I come in a few hours later than most of the day shift. We also have a night shift. When I come into work, this box often has issue emails in it that are several hours old. I told one of my managers about it, and they said to let them know if I see it again. Now, again maybe I am being weird, but isn't it the manager who should be periodically checking this box, making sure that client requests for action are not sitting there for 2+ hours? Why is it falling on me to let someone know things aren't happening in a timely manner? I don't…
