I work as a cleaner in a grocery store that is situated in the middle of a town centre. I work the evening shifts, I have no manager around, and I’m the only cleaner around when I’m on my shift.
As a kind of retaliation against my shit pay for the work I do, I’ve decided to just clock in when I’m close to the store, then go shopping or whatever I want for an hour, come in, do my work, then leave again an hour early and come back at the end of my shift to clock out. It’s been great. It’s my little way of actually doing what I want, while feeling like I’m making a fairer hourly wage for my work, since I’m paid the same but only work a fraction of the time. Not that they know that, obviously.
Why stick around to do a bunch of extra work like I always have if it doesn’t get me a pay rise or any other benefits, and if I can do everything I really need to do within the first half of my shift? Just feels like I’m wasting my time being there.
Anyway, yeah, pretty lucky to be invisible from time to time.
