Please tell me if this is ridiculous and this manager is an idiot.
I’m in the onboarding process for a W2 contract position. I was super excited to start. We agreed upon a set hourly rate ($60) and when I got my paperwork today it said $50. The hiring manager claims the rate is lower because they are withholding taxes for me and assured me it’s normal because I will actually be getting paid more. I am upset because this is the first time it was ever mentioned that the rate would be lower because of taxes. Am I rightfully upset?
