My last job was a nursing home. I worked as an RSA (basically one step below an STNA). I had work there for months, I LOVED the residents, I basically went above and beyond for them.
I tried my hardest to be friends with my coworkers, but everyone else seemed to know one another and no one would really give me the time of day.
That’s okay, i guess.
I’ve asked a couple of times about if there was a program or something where I could become an STNA and then return back to the home as an STNA. (where they pay for the class for you, one of the long term nurses told me about it)
I was told SEVERAL times that they used to, but they don’t have it anymore.
So i saved up my money for weeks, (at some point here, a new coworker (M30), an RSA like myself; started) applied, got accepted into an STNA class.
When I told my boss about it, she told me it would in my best interest, I should resign while i’m taking the class. She told me it was nothing personal, and that I could come back afterwards.
I thought about it; there were more and more new employees coming in recently so i figured it be best for my situation. (in the end it wasn’t but that part is my fault)
after i resigned, a week after i start my STNA class; I’m on facebook. I follow the nursing homes facebook to see pictures etc.
they made a post about them sending their new RSA (m30) out to become an aide.
they paid for his class in full, he didn’t have to resign while taking the class etc.
not sure if it was something i did or favoritism.
