TSA rejected me for having 20-30 vision in a medical exam, and I now realize it was a massive favor.

The TSA hiring process is one of the dumbest things I have ever seen in my life… and I've seen the movie “The Room.” And that was an enjoyable kind of dumb!!!! Look, I'm not gonna mix any more words… the TSA hiring process takes up to 8 months to complete. There's no compensation of any kind for what they make us do in order to go to their super far away interviews. (Took me 3 hours of driving total for all the places they wanted me to go. Probably more for other people.) They all clearly have no idea what the other ones are doing, as I've received a plethora of misinformation and straight up falsehoods from supposed higher ups in your organization, and to top it all off… they're planning on paying people a meager $17 per hour? (At least in my area. I know some places it's…

Look, I ain't no Albert Einstein, but if you're going to make people jump through 8 million hoops and are willing to reject people for mild nearsightedness in 1 eye (as opposed to both), then you better be ready and waiting with enough money for the people you do accept to be able to at least live in the dystopia created by the very government that you work for.

Honestly, I've lost interest in it as a whole. I'd rather work at McDonalds at this point than the TSA. At least they don't have 4 separate departments unable to understand when the 1st one is 20% understaffed. (Apparently this is the case at a few airports in my area.)

Also, finally… I fail to understand the issue with being slightly nearsighted in 1 eye… as I was able to pass the test involving identifying weapons, so clearly it doesn't limit my vision any…. just my ability to read letters that are really far away… (so terrible, I know.). I'm not appealing to them… Nope. Their turn to stick their neck out if they're “understaffed” as they say.
