got placed on a 30 day probation for attendance over pre approved time off.

I work in medical billing. My job is very easy. it could easily be a part time job. All my coworkers love to shoot the shit in the break & basically do anything but work. I however, like to get my work done and leave. I take a lot of pre scheduled time off. For vacation, appointments, random emergencies etc. Mostly all unpaid, and occasionally using my allotted PTO. My office is moving buildings, and the new office took 2.5 MONTHS longer than anticipated to finish construction. They had us driving an extra 20-25 minutes across town. (My commute is normally only 20 minutes so it’s doubling my commute time each way. I also normally work right down the street from my husband & we carpool to save gas) After this unexpected increase in my gas bill, and trying to work with my leads to avoid the commute, I emailed…

I also normally work right down the street from my husband & we carpool to save gas) After this unexpected increase in my gas bill, and trying to work with my leads to avoid the commute, I emailed my CFO (it’s a smaller company so he’s more like a manager but his dad owns the company. so not as dramatic as it sounds) Explaining the situation, and he said no problem work from home. When I’m finally forced to come back into office (driving the extra commute across town still) I’m bombarded with my leads & general manager accusing me of somehow tampering with my time card because my time in/out was “too precise” i explained the time clock can only be accessed on work computer and the site rounds the time. then refused when i asked for report and proof I haven’t been working unpaid when my time is rounded off. Then they said they’re putting my on a 30 day attendance probation for too many missed days. I was so confused as I hadn’t called out sick that often (6 times in 5 months to be exact) They are trying to retroactively punish me for PRE APPROVED time off. Absolutely flabbergasted. I even asked if my work was falling behind ? Their response over & over was “this isn’t about your work or productivity it’s only about your attendance” … so I get my work done, work less hours & cost the company less money right? I’m a good employee I just take a lot of time off but if my work is done I don’t see the issue. I emailed HR and they basically told me they couldn’t do anything sorry. I would quit & get another job but I’m ONE month away from my one year & am allowed to use paid maternity leave which i’d love when my husband & I start trying in 2024. Sorry for bad grammar, and rant. Any advice appreciated.

tldr: my boss placed me on 30 day probation for pre approved time off “breaking the attendance policy” even though all my work is up to par.
