I wasted a company’s time today

Earlier this year, I was at a company paying me a very good salary with solid benefits. However, my direct boss was horribly abusive. She would scream at me to the point where I cried twice. She would call me and my work worthless/pointless/irrelevant. She'd throw my work into the trash in front of me, even after I worked outside business hours on the report. She'd slam her hands on the table and lean in my face and yell. All of this because I was new to the field, and she was made aware of this from my interviews. She had the final say to hire me. Eventually, after writing a letter asking her to change her actions to no avail, I went to HR and got gaslit with phrases like, “Are you sure she screamed at you? Maybe she is just a loud person.” I left the company.

Today, I had an interview with another company, and I “got” a flat tire while driving to the interview. When I first had a phone interview, the woman in charge explained the maximum salary they would offer me was $15,000 LESS THAN my previous salary at my prior job earlier this year. That I would likely be in the ballpark of $18,000 to $16,000 lower than prior. I spent about 4 days considering it over, and decided to interview anyways. Keep in mind, this new company is 1 hour 15 minutes from my home with traffic and 1 hour on a good day, with absolutely no option to work remotely. The old place was 20 minutes away with traffic.

Oops, I guess I shouldn't have driven over that nail. Both these places suck.
