Is anyone else completely apathetic to ageism?

I’ve found in the places that I work and heard from other people that usually the older somebody is at their job, the meaner and more incompatible they are at doing it. It’s like the second people hit their 50’s they decide they have to be assholes. This applies to my parents, my coworkers no matter where I’ve worked, and even at church. My parents have complained about me and my siblings and their younger coworkers “not caring” about their issues at work – but what’s really going on is they’re not adapting to the modern times. For example my mom is a nurse practitioner, and her company recently hired a new NP who is very young. My parents have complained about me and my siblings and their younger coworkers “not caring” about their issues at work – but what’s really going on is they’re not adapting to the modern times.

For example my mom is a nurse practitioner, and her company recently hired a new NP who is very young. He is paid almost the same as her because he demanded a proper pay, he is paid hourly so he works less than everyone else because he knows his limits, and he takes a lunch break unlike everyone else because…he addresses his basic human needs. He also leaves right when his shift is over and doesn’t stay overtime because that’s not what he agreed to.

Obviously all of these things are normal, they’re good, there’s nothing wrong with this. But my mom and dad talk about him like he’s some devil communist guy.

“Oh he doesn’t know how to work hard”
“How dare he get a lunch break, I never got those”
“He’s paid so much just because he got a college degree, no experience!”
“I can’t believe he works so little, when I was his age I was working 13 hour shifts!”

I have absolutely no sympathy for old people like this trying to bring down their younger coworkers for demanding proper and basic respect. This whole idea that old people = superior and smarter just needs to die. Old people and young people alike are capable of bringing things to the table, but more often than not it’s the old people causing all the problems.

I also notice that old people almost always tend to be conservative, judgemental, religious, and anti-science. How can they expect to be respected when they have all of those awful things about them? It’s deserved at that point.
