So next week I'm going out of town Thursday Friday and coming back Monday night. So I scheduled off that Thursday and didn't scheduled off that Friday because I was going to work overtime this week so I can comp the hours (any hours I work late I can put it towards time off) However the problem is that 2 of my coworkers also took off that day. One has to drive their son to hospital for a surgery and the other one is out of town.
I told both coworkers that I'll be going out of town that week months in advance but never put in. My supervisor basically told me that he can't allow anyone else to take off because we're short staffed we have 6/14 in our department. I told him that I'll be leaving Thursday morning no matter and not coming back til Monday. I asked my coworker and he said he can probably come in half the day.
Lastly my job has an on call rotation so we are on call once a week for a month. Next week is my coworker who's off schedule on call. (Where we can get called in after hours)
This week I've been staying late. I've been working 14+ hours every day this week to makeup for the time off. I've been busting my ass trying to catch up since we're behind. Doing more than expect. With my efforts we are almost caught up. While my coworker is on vacation for the whole week and the other one is busy with something else.
I know I'm in the wrong here but I don't give a shit if they write me up. I'm basically their star employee where everyone says good things about me, other coworkers, the administration recognized my hard work and countless customers say good things about me. I've never been written up for anything for 3 1/2 years. I highly doubt they will fire me because they literally cannot find people. It's been like that for 8 months. Anyways let me know what would you do in this situation?
