i can’t STAND this argument:

so i’ve talked to a couple older people (i’m 25 for context, they’re in their 40’s+, so i’m not sure what generation gap that is but anyways…) “people work minimum wage jobs because they don’t have skills and they only way to get a better job/higher pay is to get skills that’s useful enough to find a job that will give you better pay. that’s why you NEED education/learn a trade.” the other person i talked to told me that “people that are coming over to America illegally are bringing wages down” (i still don’t get that one. make that make sense? why is that their problem? why does that have to affect everyone else that has lived here/worked here?) ok. my thoughts on that: NOT EVERYBODY HAS THE MEANS OR SUPPORT TO EVEN GET AN EDUCATION! or learn a trade straight up. if people want to and are able…

people want to be able to live off of what they make and they can’t!!!! i see a lot of wild stuff on this sub and r/LateStageCapistalism

like i just don’t get it.

yeah, hard work is important to get to where you wanna go, but it shouldn’t have to take you over half of your life to get to where you want to be.
and you shouldn’t have to skip on basic needs to scrape by/pay bills.

as Memphis May Fire says it: “The American Dream is tearing at the seams.”
