I (22F) started an unnamed smoothie job about a week ago that had many red flags but I need a job and they basically handed it to me. One being that if you put in a 2 weeks notice you don’t get any tips for that entire two weeks. On my first “training day” within the first few minutes they had me making smoothies because a lot of orders came in. (didn’t tell me to wash my hands of anything) The next day they called me in when I wasn’t scheduled for extra training. Turns out I was actually covering someone’s shift who was supposed to do dishes and only a lead was there. They actually taught me as much as they could but at a certain point it got too busy that I was slowing them down and it ended there. I worked 3 days total and on my final day scheduled I overslept and didn’t come in. I didn’t really care because I was already deciding to quite after everything but they texted me saying they want to give me a second chance.
Problem starts here——->
I was going to accept until I see on their website that my check for the hours I worked is less than what I signed on the contact with no tips. I call them and they say they thought I was going to quit so anyone who doesn’t stay a week is subject to that pay. I told them that no where written does it say that so they can’t do that. All she said is it’s the rules so I asked who wrote them and she couldn’t tell me. Eventually she said the owners wrote the rules so I said I’ll talk to them then hung up.
She text me after saying they’ll fix it and to call back but I refused and said to email me so I have documentation and I haven’t heard back since yesterday.
What can/should I do. I want to go to the owners but don’t know if that would be any help.
