Boss gives me grief when I take time off

I work in staff/management position that oversees a group of drivers. Right now is our busy time, but I asked for two days off to take my kid to school. The request was put in two months ago when it looked we would be fully staffed and he approved it. Yesterday, I sent some updates our about next week and mentioned I am off two days and also talked to a couple people who will handle parts of my job while I am gone. A little while later, my boss calls me and tells me I cannot take time off, he never approved it. I said look at your calendar and I put the request in two months ago, at that time not knowing three members of the staff would be off for sudden medical issues.
He freaks out and starts going off that were screwed if I go and I need to be there and we are all going to get fired for something happening in those two days. I said I'm taking off and can teach him anything he thinks he might need to know while I am gone.
A little while later the shop lead was in the boss' office and boss was going off to her how dare I take time off. She was like, didn't you go and move your kid into their dorm the last two summers? He says yeah I did. Shop lead says well that's what she's going to be doing. But a little later he tells me that I don't need to go and my kid couldn't have that much stuff to move and visit them in a couple months when things calm down. He also said can't your husband just go and help or some other family? I said I'm still taking off.
Today, he asked if I was taking my laptop when I am off and I said no. Boss was like, but what if we need something, you are the only one who knows how to do certain things. I said its not my fault no one wants to learn but I can show him or anyone else anything he thinks might be needed while I'm gone. He was like well we all will be fired thanks to you. I said I doubt it. Then he said he'll call for issues. I said I may not be able to answer it. Boss said I have to answer it. I reminded him I do not have a company phone and unless he is going to pay my bill, its my phone.
This happened earlier this year when the entire safety department (two people) were both going to be off at a time that is very, very slow, and my boss freaked out again that I was also taking time off and as the staff/management that's been at the location the longest I know how to do some safety stuff. My boss also has notes how to do the same tasks if he needs to. I still took off but got so much grief for it. Also nothing happened that he was afraid of.
Please don't tell me I need a new job, I'm quite aware, but for the 100 applications I have put in this year, I had one phone interview that ghosted me after.
