My job has had some issues in the past with paying its US employees on time. While I know it can be a big deal I never made a fuss bc this job allows me to work from home with my kid and there is some downtime. They had never paid us more than a week late and this only ever happened just a little over a handful of times in the couple of yrs I’ve been with them. This time is different though. They owe us a paycheck from two weeks ago and our next paycheck is coming up in like a day. They don’t have anything useful to say when I ask them about it other than “we don’t know when payroll will be processed” “we don’t have an update at this time”. I luckily have another job that will at the very least allow me to cover rent if they don’t pay us by the end of month. I just filed an online complaint on the DOL website but will this even help?
I don’t have the money to hire a lawyer right now living in one of the most expensive states in the country and having a toddler.
