Promotion taken away after training?

Management asked me (19F) if I wanted to work up to team leader. I said it sounded like a good idea, and after some shadowing and a few basic things I was given 18 online courses to do. I completed them all. For a while I’ve been expecting to be given my first salesfloor leader shift, I’ve been pretty hyped up for the new responsibility. Recently I found out second hand off of another older colleague that my ascension has been pretty much dismissed, because the management apparently want to focus more on an already-made team leader and training them up for a higher support management position. I feel really hard done by. Not only was all that training pretty much a waste, but I didn’t even get to hear this off of my managers. A bunch of people seemed to hear about this before I even did. I feel really hard done by. Not only was all that training pretty much a waste, but I didn’t even get to hear this off of my managers. A bunch of people seemed to hear about this before I even did. They said “you’re young though so you’ll have plenty of time to learn up” as if I’m some sort of 10 year old, even though I’ve been here for 4 years and have been left to handle things on my own in many occasions. It’s really knocked my confidence down.
