I'm wondering what my options are here. For the first time, today I showed up for my shift and was told that there was not enough work. So I ended up not being able to work for the day. I'm scheduled for later in the week, but I expect that this can continue to happen as long as they want. I was wondering if this counts as constructive dismissal, and if so, am I able to go ahead and file for unemployment today, or would this have to happen multiple times before I can expect to receive unemployment. Because I really can't afford to lose these shifts. Even one shift makes a huge dent in my paycheck.
Edit to add: I suspect that this may have happened because my employer over-hired (I haven't been working here long) and that this is a way for them to cut labor costs.
