My contract with the current employer will not be renewed in a few weeks. The company is letting me go without cause – it's not my fault. My manager has told me that he needs to inform the team about my departure and is planning to do it in my presence. I suggested that maybe he could do it without me around but his way is apparently how they do it.
Is it just me or is that kind of unprofessional? What am I supposed to do during the announcement, apart from feeling extremely uncomfortable and feeling all eyes on me?
Let's picture the situation…
Boss: “Hi everyone, I'd like to inform you that xdarkshinex won't be working with us soon, we're not renewing her contract”
awkward crickets
Everyone: …
Me: …
Someone: Oh, okay…
Great idea. Thanks, boss!
“Boss” for not much longer, luckily.
