A company asked me where I was born despite giving me a translation test. I’d imagine I did well on the translation test since this question seems to determine whether I’ll get hired or not, or at least whether I’ll continue in the hiring process.
They said:
“The hiring team asked this question – it is one of the requirements we have for candidates so we would like to confirm that you are native born speaker of Spanish (not US born). I would just like to confirm this.””
I’m not a native speaker of Spanish but I have a masters and part of a PhD in Hispanic linguistics. I’m fluent and the language test should’ve determined if I was suitable for the position.
These are the requirements. I’m realizing now that they probably also wanted me to have a degree from a Spanish-speaking country, which I do not have.
Edit: just realized they changed the requirements because I looked back at a prior screenshot that said “native speaker preferred” and now it says “native speaker required “
